About Me
My background
I am from Shrewsbury also known as Harlem in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. The Jefferson Parish Public School system prepared me for college and life. I graduated from Riverdale High School and Xavier University of Louisiana. My work experiences has prepared me for this Council seat. I was an Insurance Agent, Child Welfare Specialist, Educator, and still a business owner. I have lived in all three of the Americas. I was born in North America, spent a year in language school in Central America, and served two years as a missionary in South America. I am prepared to understand and relate to the many different cultures in our community, District 1! Choose #5 Andrea Manuel !
My top issue
Coastal erosion is a major challenge for the Westbank. Here in Louisiana thousands of acres of land is being lost each year due to rising sea levels, subsidence, and the impact of hurricanes. This erosion threatens our communities, infrastructure, and local industries like fishing and tourism. I will work on efforts to combat this by supporting coastal restoration projects, levee improvements, and marshland preservation, but continued investment and policy changes are needed to slow land loss and protect Westbank communities from flooding.
